Operation Wish Book is collecting new, unwrapped books through Friday for children and teens in the Lewiston-Clarkston Valley. The books will be given away to kids in need over the holidays. Books for babies, beginning readers, chapter books and young adults are all encouraged.

Teen books are especially needed, says Heather Stout, community and youth services librarian at the Lewiston City Library. Board books for babies also tend to run out.

Depending on the number of books received, they will be distributed at Christmas Connection, at local food banks, at the juvenile detention center and Northwest Children's Home in Lewiston.
