According to Pullman Police Sgt. Jake Opgenorth, fourth-degree assault charges have been filed against Idaho receiver Dezmon Epps, who's been suspended indefinitely by the football program for allegedly slapping a female acquaintance on the morning of Oct. 25.
The case involving Epps has been turned into the records department and forwarded to the Whitman County Prosecutor's Office, Opgenorth said.
Epps was advised by an attorney not to share his side of incident when Pullman Police contacted him via telephone and denied an in-person interview, Opgenorth said.
Epps was at Stubblefield's Bar in Pullman on Oct. 25 when he allegedly hit a female acquaintance across the face after pushing her up against a wall, Opgenorth said.
Tuesday afternoon, Idaho coach Paul Petrino said Epps' suspension is still in effect and a school official confirmed he didn't travel with the team to Saturday's game at New Mexico State.
Despite playing in just six of Idaho's eight games, Epps is still the Sun Belt Conference leader with 10.2 receptions per game, 126.2 receiving yards per game and 757 receiving yards in total.
Idaho is investigating the allegations and Epps may be reinstated depending on the outcome, the school said in a press release last week.
