UPDATE AT 5:15 P.M.:

The power outage that hit Lewiston residents at about 3:20 p.m. today is mostly resolved, with only 33 customers still affected, according to an Avista spokesperson.

Crews are working on the problem. Full restoration of power is expected at 7:30 p.m. today, according to the spokesperson.

The outage was caused by an animal getting in Avista's equipment at a substation, according to the spokesperson.

ORIGINAL STORY:

A power outage affecting more than 2,500 Avista customers struck parts of Lewiston at about 3:30 p.m. today.

Crews have been assigned to work on the outage. The estimated time of power restoration is 6:15 p.m. today, according to Avista's outage map on its website.

The outage appears to be mostly south of 11th Avenue.
