NATIONAL SUMMARY

As Tropical Storm Francine continues to further strengthen

throughout the day today, heavy rain will become more

widespread, and winds will start to increase from far

southern Texas across much of the western Gulf Coast, with

some rainbands perhaps reaching the Louisiana coastline by

day's end. A separate area of showers and thunderstorms will

move across much of Florida and the eastern Gulf Coast with

even more downpours. Afternoon monsoon thundershowers will

again dot portions of New Mexico, Colorado and Utah, and

possibly even Wyoming and the southeastern corner of Idaho.

A disturbance over the northern Plains may also spark some

showers from Minnesota to western parts of Wisconsin and the

Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Most places will stay dry in

the Northeast, Midwest, mid-Atlantic and West Coast.
